Avian Influenza (H5N1) and Agricultural and Food Workers: Rights, Risks, Public Policy Issues

The rights and working conditions of poultry workers must be incorporated into national and international action plans to tackle actual and potential outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza. Those who work on poultry farms and in poultry breeding facilities and processing plants are on the front line of the battle against avian influenza. They have a vital role to play in safeguarding public health and the public interest.
